Dear WSVSD Families,

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation related to the on-going parking lot construction. There have been some delays related to the parking lot completion and we appreciate the community’s patience as we work to ensure that the parking lot is completed correctly.

Next week on Monday and Tuesday the parking lot at WPSIS/Henkle and Columbia High School will be closed. The closure is so construction crews can make repairs to the asphalt. Student drop off and pick up will occur at the Field House. This is the same drop off and pick up procedure as was done the first couple weeks of school.

The next phase of the parking lot is to paint and stripe the parking lot. This work will begin once the asphalt is repaired and the concrete has sufficiently cured. We anticipate the striping to occur sometime in October.

The parking lot project is the final piece to the 2019 voter approved capital bond. It was designed to improve walking pathways for students and to help traffic safely flow through the campus parking lot. The 2019 voter approved capital bond brought various other facility enhancements across the district, including the field house near CHS, the Dr. Jerry Lewis Health and Wellness Center at CHS, and parking lot improvements to “C” court at CHS.

Thank you for your ongoing support, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

My best,

Rich Polkinghorn
Superintendent, White Salmon Valley School District
