Pre-Engineering Tech

In this hands-on course students will learn how to build a radio controlled robot. Topics such as electricity, soldering, fasteners, frame construction, and gearing for speed and power will be covered as students build their robot to play a fun game of All-Terrain King of the Hill. No prior experience needed.

Metalworking I

Students in this hands-on course will learn to safely fabricate projects out of metal. Topics include power tool use, blueprint reading, welding, sheet metal fabrication, CNC plasma art and a variety of projects.

Metalworking II / Metalworking III

Prerequisites - C or better in Metalworking I

Returning metalworking students will work independently or in small groups to gain skills in MIG, TIG, Arc and OA welding and cutting. Introductory mechanics and a wide variety of fabrication projects may be completed.

Intro Robotics

Students will combine their skills and knowledge from Pre-Engineering Tech with more advanced robotics information to build and operate two new machines. Choices include radio controlled airplanes, underwater ROV’S, and radio controlled quadcopters.

NOTE: Students enrolled in this course are encouraged to join FFA. This course is designed to engage students in the various scientific fields which have a practical application in Horticulture.  Students will learn botany, soil science, propagation techniques, landscape design, integrated pest control methods and environmental conditions needed for maintaining plant health.  Students will participate in a variety of activities including labs, field work, scientific inquiry, debate, reading and writing.

This course is designed to provide students with leadership opportunities such as, public speaking, community service, and professional development. Students will complete job applications, create cover letters and resumes. It is expected that students participate in FFA. FFA members will focus on their Supervised Agricultural Experiences and FFA record bookkeeping.
