Course Description

 

Introduction – This course is designed to be an introduction into the major human systems and is designed to be an expansion of your first year biology class. The prerequisites for this class is to have received a “B” or higher in General Biology and be a Junior or Senior.  The material and pacing are geared towards advanced students with an interest in Human Biology.    

The following Human Systems and Laboratory Activities will be considered this year:

Systems:  Skeletal, Muscular, Integumentary, Circulatory, Respiratory, Immune, Digestive, Excretory, Nervous, Endocrine, Reproductive, and the body’s reaction to Drug Usage.

Laboratory Activities:  Comparing Skeletal Joints, Touch Receptors in the Skin, Blood Typing, Blood Pressure, Mammal Dissections, Heart Dissection, Exploring Vision, Communicable Disease Transmission, Identifying Food Nutrients, Urinalysis Testing, Dehydrating and Demineralizing Bone, Lung Volume and Alveoli Surface Area, Modeling Human Digestion.
