About me

Greetings Columbia High School students and parents! I'm thrilled to be covering for Chris Hipskind in the the metal shop for his leave of absence this year. As a high school student in the 1990's, my school's wood and metal shops were vital to my progress and well being. My father is a contractor/welder/carpenter and I served as his apprentice long before I know what an apprentice was. The skills I learned served me well and opened many doors such as working to support myself through college, allowing me to work as a carpenter in Antarctica and to own my own contracting business. I also have a passion for personal projects like furniture, stringed instruments, small boats and remodeling my own homes. I'm very grateful for the skills I have and look forward to sharing them with students so they can experience the many benefits of fabrication.
