I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Pacific Lutheran University with an emphasis in photography and sculpture and a Bachelor of Arts in Education K-12 from Pacific Lutheran University.  My minors are Natural Science and Social Science.

I received my 5th year from Pacific Lutheran University and have continued my graduate studies through University of Puget Sound, Seattle Pacific, Portland State and Pacific Lutheran University.

I participated in the Teldec Grant (Technology) and the Gates Foundation Grant.  I have an extensive technology background. I was awarded the Teacher of the Year in 2006-2007 and 2014-2015 from White Salmon Valley School District.

This is my 36th year of teaching.  i still love the excitement of the fall and a new beginning.  I have taught all grades, kindergarten through high school with the exception of second. Some of the students at CHS I had in elementary school as first graders. Each grade level is special, from the Kindergarten student's excitement to the Senior's graduation, I enjoy each aspect of the school experience. During art, I want students to think outside of the box, experience new media and really push their creativity, thinking and knowledge.

Poulsbo, Washington is my hometown.  My great grandparents were Scandinavian immigrants that founded the town.  My grandfather and father were commercial fishermen in the Puget Sound. My father started as a teacher and moved on to owning Edgren Insurance Agency.  My brother is currently running the business.

After graduating from North Kitsap High School, I attended Pacific Lutheran University and received my BFA in Art and a BA in Education.  I taught ten years in the Bethel School District, primarily teaching kindergarten and first grade.  I then moved to the Columbia River Gorge and taught in the Mill A School District for three years.

In 1992, I started teaching 8th grade Language Arts at Henkle Middle School and then moved to Whitson where I taught Kindergarten and First Grade.  Currently, I'm teaching art and yearbook at Columbia High School.
